About the author

Dr King is a holistic veterinarian who currently lives in southern Victoria, Australia. She writes with a unique blend of scientific knowledge, practical experience, and personal insight.

The Highly Sensitive Dog, second edition,

is her twelfth book.

Around 1 in every 6 dogs is highly sensitive:

* easily excited

* easily overwhelmed

* emotionally sensitive

Highly sensitive dogs are found in every breed and in mixed- breed dogs.  This is a normal personality trait that has a genetic basis.  It is not a disorder, although behavioral disorders are more likely in these dogs.

Highly sensitive dogs make wonderful companions by virtue   of their sensitivity, but they do require some accommodations.

This book briefly explains the science of sensory-processing sensitivity and offers some practical strategies aimed at making life easier for these wonderful dogs, and for ourselves in return.
